Need some help organizing all the ideas and vendors for your event? Or are you looking for a planner that can create a really cool vibe? We sat down with Emily of Boutique Events this week...
How did you get started in the business?
Jean and I worked together for a few years at a local catering company. After a while, our passion shifted into event planning. Putting together a day with multiple aspects and people is as difficult and rewarding as conducting a symphony. When it all comes together, the experience is incredible!
What do clients need to know about Boutique Events?
As both of us have catering background, it helps facilitate the day so no one is stressed. Nothing is worse when guests are peckish and the food isn't ready. We are partnered with Gertrude's Restaurant at the Baltimore Museum of Art and plan all of the events held there. Plus, two planning heads are better than one!
Best party you put on?
In 2012, we planned the Waldorf School of Baltimore's 40th Anniversary Party. Artsy, with a clear tent on the school grounds, with pipe and drape. Potted trees and flowers surrounded everyone. Before the dinner, some of students sang a few melodies for everyone. We had some distinct hand soaps and other small gifts for everyone as favors for the end of the night.
What do you want to see more clients doing for their events?
Flowers that hang over tables and in tents are really cool. Finding a fun and unique favor that guests can use; maybe a cool guestbook that you can put in the house after the party. Also tying in the stationary to the details of your event. Late night snacks are always appreciated by guests!
Interesting fact about you?
Jean and I are foodies! There is nothing better than some wonderful food and a exquisite glass of wine.
